The oxidation of alcohols by sodium percarbonate has been carried out at reflux of acetonitrile or 1,2-dichloroethane in the presence of catalytic amounts of both molybdenyl acetylacetonate and Adogen 464. Fair to high yields of the corresponding carbonyl compounds have been obtained from various primary and secondary alcohols.
