Abstract

An effective route to novel 5-hydroxy-1,5-dihydro-2H-pyrrol-2-one is described which involves the reaction of an en­amine, derived from addition of a secondary amine to dibenzoyl­acetylene, with an arylsulfonyl isocyanate.
