Background

The worldwide incidence of gonococcal keratoconjunctivitis in adults is showing a tendency to increase [1], which in conjunction with the increasing number of penicillinase-producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae is getting much attention nowadays [2]. It is, however, also known that a delay in diagnosis, which is still not rare, may significantly influence the outcome of its vision-threatening complications.

We report on the conservative management of gonococcal corneal perforation in an adult. The treatment applied here supported the healing process as confirmed by the subjective improvement of the patientʼs symptoms.
