Zusammenfassung

An sieben Leichen und zwei Patienten wurden sowohl frische Thromben als auch stenosierende Plaques der A. carotis mit Hilfe eines Argon-Lasers verdampft. Frische Thromben konnten zur Gänze rekanalisiert werden. Bei arteriosklerotischen Plaques gelang eine partielle Reduktion. Im Eluat der Spülflüssigkeit konnten keine Partikel, die größer als 7 µm waren, nachgewiesen werden, so daß periphere Embolien in Zusammenhang mit der Laser-TEA nicht befürchtet werden müssen.

Abstract

Argon laser irradiation via a transfemorally introduced catheter successfully vapourized both fresh thrombi and stenosing plaques in the carotid artery of seven cadavers and two patients. Fresh thrombi were recanalized throughout their length, while the arteriosclerotic plaques were partially reduced. No particles larger than 7 µm were demonstrated in the eluant flushing fluid, indicating that peripheral emboli need not be feared with this technique.
