Cornus mas L. – Kornelkirsche

Zusammenfassung

Cornus mas L. (Cornaceae), die Kornelkirsche, ist ein kleiner Baum oder Strauch, dessen Früchte (Corni fructus) als Lebensmittel und als traditionelles Arzneimittel seit dem Altertum vor allem bei Durchfall, Ruhr und Fieber angewendet wurden. Bis heute wird diese gut verträgliche Droge vor allem in Südosteuropa und im Orient volksheilkundlich genutzt. Als Hauptinhaltsstoffe kommen neben verschiedenen polyphenolischen Verbindungen (Procyanidine, Ellagitannine, Anthocyanine, Flavonoide) auch terpenoide Inhaltsstoffe (Iridoide, Triterpene, Carotinoide) sowie Vitamin C vor. Dieses Inhaltsstoffspektrum bestimmt vor allem die prophylaktische und therapeutische Anwendung bei Stoffwechselerkrankungen, Infektionen sowie bei entzündlichen Erkrankungen verschiedener Organsysteme.

Cornus mas L., cornelian cherry

Cornus mas L. (Cornaceae), cornelian cherry is a small tree or shrub whose fruits (Corni fructus) have been used since ancient times as food and as traditional medicine for treatment of diarrhoea, dysentery and fever. To date, this well-tolerated medicine is used mainly in Southeastern Europe and the Orient. Besides various polyphenolic compounds (procyanidins, ellagitannins, anthocyanins, flavonoids), terpenoid substances (iridoids, triterpenes, carotenoids) and vitamin C have been characterised as the main ingredients. This range of bioactive compounds mainly determines the prophylactic as well as therapeutic use in case of infections and metabolic diseases together with inflammatory disorders in different organs.
