Zusammenfassung

Die Monografie „Hard Core“ der US-amerikanischen Filmwissenschaftlerin Linda Williams erschien im Jahr 1989, inmitten der „feministischen Porno-Kriege“. Das Buch gilt als Klassiker der Pornografie-Forschung, da es sich eben nicht um eine weitere ideologische Streitschrift für oder gegen Pornografie handelt, sondern erstmals um eine wissenschaftliche Arbeit, die das Genre des pornografischen Films detailliert in seiner historischen Entwicklung und Machart analysiert. Anlässlich des 30. Geburtstags des Werkes stellt der vorliegende Beitrag die Autorin und ihr Buch vor, geht auf seine Rezeptionsgeschichte ein und arbeitet die Bedeutung für die heute boomende Pornografie-Forschung heraus.

Abstract

The monograph “Hard Core” by US film scholar Linda Williams was published in 1989, amidst the “feminist porn wars”. The book is considered a classic of pornography research because it is not just another ideological pamphlet for or against pornography, but for the first time a scientific work that analyses the genre of pornographic film in detail in its historical development and style. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the book, this article presents the author and her work, deals with its reception history, and highlights its significance for today’s booming field of pornography research.
