Digitale Prozessketten gewinnen zunehmend mehr an Bedeutung in der modernen Zahnheilkunde. Zu Beginn jedes digitalen Prozesses steht die Erstellung eines dreidimensionalen Datensatzes durch intra- oder extraorale Scans der Patientensituation. Ziel dieses Beitrages ist es, eine Übersicht über intraorale und extraorale Scanprozesse sowie eine kurze Zusammenfassung der aktuellen Literatur zu dieser Thematik zu geben.
