Salvatore Paiella et al. Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration for the diagnosis and grading of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors: a retrospective analysis of 110 cases

Specimens obtained by endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) from pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors in 110 patients were adequate for grading in 70 % of cases (> 2000 cells for Ki-67 index determination). When compared with histology from the surgical specimens in 77 patients, EUS-FNA grading was correct in 82 %, and under- and overgrading were seen in 16 % and 3 % of cases, respectively.
