Adipositas als Risikofaktor für Parodontitis

Adipositas gilt als Risikofaktor für die Entstehung der Parodontitis. Dabei sind die zugrunde liegenden Mechanismen sehr vielfältig. Eine effektive Therapie berücksichtigt die verschiedenen Einflussfaktoren und setzt sowohl lokal am Infektions- und Entzündungsgeschehen in der Mundhöhle, aber auch systemisch am Ernährungs- und Lebensstil an. Um Patienten bei der Gewichtsreduktion unterstützen zu können, liefert dieser Fortbildungsbeitrag Informationen zur Charakterisierung und Behandlung von Übergewicht im Kontext der Parodontitis.
