Abstract

Zusammenfassung

Chronische Schmerzen sind häufig. Diagnostisches und therapeutisches Vorgehen kann zur Chronifizierung von Schmerzen beitragen (Iatrogenisierung). Verschiedene Mechanismen, die zur Iatrogenisierung führen sind bekannt. Das Wissen um diese Effekte ist essenziell um Iatrogenisierung zu vermeiden, oder die Auswirkungen auf unsere Patienten abzumildern.

Anhand eines typischen Falls aus der stationären multimodalen Schmerztherapie werden verschiedene Mechanismen der Iatrogenisierung aufgezeigt und Vermeidungsstrategien diskutiert.

Abstract

Chronic pain is a common condition. Diagnostic and treatment can contribute to the development of chronic pain (iatrogenization). Different mechanisms of iatrogenization have been described. Knowledge about these mechanisms is essential to avoid or minimize the effect that iatrogenization has on our patients.

By presenting a typical case from an inpatient multimodal therapy concept, different mechanisms of iatrogenization will be demonstrated and strategies to avoid these pitfalls discussed.
