A 70-year-old patient was treated with minimal invasive technique for a symptomatic
recurrence of the left small saphenous vein. Endovenous laser 1470nm was applied for
the recurrent trunk segments. Shortly after treatment the patient complained about
pain at the upper dorsal calf region. An arterial false aneurysm was detected at the
first control 2 days later. Initial treatment with percutaneous thrombin injection
was insufficient and completed by intraarterial coil embolization. This report should
provide alertness to endovenous therapists of the field.
