David Karsenti et al. Impact of linked color imaging on the proximal adenoma miss rate: a multicenter tandem randomized controlled trial (the COCORICO trial)

Lesions missed during colonoscopy are associated with post-colonoscopy colorectal cancer. New imaging modalities may reduce polyp miss rates. This trial at 10 French hospitals compared adenoma miss rates using linked color imaging (LCI) or white-light imaging (WLI) in 686 patients who were randomized to each imaging modality as either the first or second pass of the proximal colon. Overall miss rates were high (~30%) with both modalities, emphasizing the importance of the second pass. The adenoma and serrated lesion miss rates in the proximal colon were not affected by imaging modality; however, the study may have been underpowered for the SSL outcome.
