Zusammenfassung

Sanguinaria canadensis L. ist eine Heilpflanze mit langer Tradition in der Medizin der Ureinwohner Nordamerikas. Die Pflanze enthält v. a. eine Vielzahl von bioaktiven Alkaloiden mit antibakteriellen, entzündungshemmenden, antitumoralen und antiviralen Eigenschaften. In der Homöopathie werden entsprechende Arzneimittel v. a. bei klimakterischen und arthritischen Beschwerden genutzt. Trotz vielfältiger Berichte zur therapeutischen Verwendung, v. a. in der Behandlung von Hauttumoren, fehlen aktuell relevante klinische Studien zu Wirksamkeit und Unbedenklichkeit von Zubereitungen mit S. canadensis für den Einsatz in der Phytotherapie.

Abstract

Sanguinaria canadensis L. is a medicinal plant with a long tradition in Native American medicine. The plant contains a large number of bioactive alkaloids with antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antitumor and antiviral properties. In homeopathy, drugs containing S. canadensis are mainly used for climacteric and arthritic complaints. Despite numerous reports on therapeutic use, especially in the treatment of skin tumors, there are currently no relevant clinical studies on the efficacy and safety of preparations containing S. canadensis for use in phytotherapy.
