Zusammenfassung
Bei Kunst-Performances stellen die Handlungen der Künstler*innen, oft in direkter
Interaktion mit dem
Publikum, die künstlerische Arbeit dar. Der Körper steht dabei häufig im Mittelpunkt.
Seit den
1960er-Jahren hat sich Performance-Kunst entwickelt, zunächst in kritischer Distanz
zum etablierten,
kommerzialisierten Kunstbetrieb. Heute ist sie teilweise im Mainstream des Kunstbetriebs
angekommen.
Performance-Kunst zeichnet sich durch eine starke Beteiligung von feministischen und
queeren
Künstler*innen aus. Der vorliegende Beitrag stellt zehn bekannte Kunst-Performances
mit Bezug zu
Sexualität und Geschlecht aus den 1960er- bis 2020er-Jahren vor und diskutiert ihre
Bedeutung vor dem
Hintergrund aktueller sexueller Diskurse: (1) Yoko Ono: “Cut Piece” (1964), (2) VALIE
EXPORT: “Aktionshose: Genitalpanik” (1969), (3) Vito Acconci: “Seedbed” (1972), (4)
Marina Abramović: “Rhythm 0” (1974), (5) Carolee Schneemann: “Interior Scroll” (1975),
(6) Bob Flanagan: “NAILED!” (1989), (7) Annie Sprinkle: “A Public Cervix Announcement”
(1990), (8) Coco Fusco und Guillermo Gómez-Peña: “The Couple in the Cage” (1992), (9)
Narcissister: “The Dollhouse” (2009) und (10) Cassils: “Up to and Including Their
Limits” (2020). Sexuelle Kunst-Performances können im Rahmen empirisch-sexualwissenschaftlicher
Studien
untersucht und in sexuellen Bildungsprojekten eingesetzt werden.
Abstract
In art performances, the actions of the artists, often in direct interaction with
the audience,
constitute the artistic work. The body is frequently at the center of attention. Since
the 1960s,
performance art has developed, initially in critical distance from the established,
commercialized art
world. Today, it has entered the mainstream of the art industry. Performance art is
characterized by a
strong participation of feminist and queer artists. This article presents ten famous
art performances
from the 1960s to the 2020s that deal with sexuality and gender and discusses their
significance against
the backdrop of current sexual discourses: (1) Yoko Ono: “Cut Piece” (1964), (2) VALIE
EXPORT: “Aktionshose: Genitalpanik” (1969), (3) Vito Acconci: “Seedbed” (1972), (4)
Marina Abramović: “Rhythm 0” (1974), (5) Carolee Schneemann: “Interior Scroll” (1975),
(6) Bob Flanagan: “NAILED!” (1989), (7) Annie Sprinkle: “A Public Cervix Announcement”
(1990), (8) Coco Fusco und Guillermo Gómez-Peña: “The Couple in the Cage” (1992), (9)

Limits” (2020). Sexual art performances can be the subject of empirical sex research
and incorporated in
sex education projects.
