Physical Rehabilitation Approaches for the Recovery of Function and Mobility Following Stroke
Article in several languages: deutsch | EnglishAuthors
Summary
Background
Throughout the world, strokes are one of the main reasons for long-term impairments and a considerable burden on health systems [1]. Since motor deficits often limit mobility and independence, the recovery of functional mobility continues to be a key objective of rehabilitation [2] [3]. Rehabilitation comprises therapeutic interventions for the restauration of movement, balance and function. Given the heterogeneity and partial competition between the concepts, their relative effectiveness can only be assessed on the basis of clearly defined therapy components and objectives.
