Significance

SCH 351448 is an activator for the LDL receptor promoter isolated from a Micro­monospora species. It shows a high Ca²+ binding affinity. Lewis acid induced Prins cyclizations were used to synthesize the tetrahydropyrans in the fragments H, I, J, and K.
