Significance

A Rh(I)-catalyzed C-H activation with subsequent arylation is reported in this article. The presence of a substituent in the 2-position of the pyridine ring is required for the reaction to proceed. This may be attributed to steric interactions that reduce the energy difference between the C-H activation intermediate and the N-bound complex.
