Significance

Iridium pincer complexes 1 and 2 immobilized on Na2O-modified γ-Al2O3 (1/Al2O3/Na2O and 2/Al2O3/Na2O) catalyzed the transfer of hydrogen from cyclooctane to 3,3-dimethyl-1-butene to give cyclooctene and 2,2-dimethylbutane. The catalysts could be recycled. Thus, TONs of the 1st reusing runs were 1520 and 940 for 1/Al2O3/Na2O and 2/Al2O3/Na2O, respectively. After the reaction with 1/Al2O3/Na2O3, ICP-MS analysis showed that 70 ppm of Ir was leached to the solution.
