Zusammenfassung
Es wird über eine Psychose nach mehrjähriger hochdosierter Trijodthyronin-Medikation
berichtet. Bei klinisch deutlichen Zeichen einer Hyperthyreose standen im Vordergrund
des psychopathologischen Bildes szenenhafte, färb intensive Hallzunationen, die den
Erlebnissen, wie sie im Mescalinrausch oder bei LSD-“trips” berichtet werden, täuschend
ähnlich sahen. Nach sofortiger Absetzung der Medikation kam es entsprechend der Rückbildung
der thyreotoxischen Zeichen zu einem völligen Abklingen der psychotischen Symptomatik.
Auffällig waren die engen Korrelationen zwischen psychopathologischem Befund und EEG-Veränderungen.
Desintegration, Amplitudenabflachung und Frequenzzunahme im EEG gleichen dem beim
Mescalinrausch beschriebenen “choppy-Muster”.
Summary
We described one case of psychosis released by a high dosage of Trijodthyronin, given
for several years.
Beside the typical clinical signs of hyperthyreosis the psychopathological picture
was characterized by pictorial, color intensive hallucinations, delusions resembling
the experiences of Mescalin ecstasy or the LSD “trips”. After immediate detoxication
of the medicament there was – appropriate to the regression of the thyrotoxic signs
– a total repression of the psychotic symptomatology.
Conspicuous was the narrow correlation between psychopathological condition and variations
of the EEG. Desintegration, low voltage and increase of the frequency of the EEG coincide
with the “choppy-pattern” described during a Mescalin ecstasy.
