Abstract

Ihtraperitoneal administration of saponin preparation extracted from the roots of Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer delete increased adrenal cyclic AMP in a dose dependent manner and increased plasma 11–hydroxycorticosteroid in intact rats. In hypophysectomized rats, saponin treatment did not increase adrenal cyclic AMP whereas corticotropin treatment did. It was thereby concluded that ginseng saponin indirectly stimulated the adrenocortical function in intact . rats.
