Abstract
The presence of alkaloids in 30 species of fungi was investigated following their
growth on artificial liquid medium. Screening with 3 alkaloidal precipitating reagents
was performed on microbial tissue extracts as well as on extracts obtained from the
growth medium. The number of fungal species that demonstrated positive confirmatory
alkaloid tests was 12 or 40 percent.
