Dysontogenic Esophageal Cyst

Summary

In a 34-year-old woman, a routine chest film revealed a suspicious area which was suggested to be of mediastinal, probably cystic, origin. Via esophagoscope the finding misrepresented itself as leiomyoma. Postoperatively, the histological diagnosis of a dysontogenetic intramural cyst with ciliated epithelium was made.

Zusammenfassung

Bei einer 34jährigen Frau wurde anläßlich einer routinemäßigen Röntgenkontrolle der Verdacht eines Mediastinaltumors, wahrscheinlich einer Zyste, geäußert, Ösophagoskopisch imponierte der Befund am ehesten als Leiomyom. Nach transthorakaler extramuraler Ausschälung fand sich ein flüssigkeitsgefülltes Gebilde, das histologisch als dysontogenetische Zyste mit nachweisbarem Flimmerepithel identifiziert werden konnte.
