Summary

The relatively high rate of recurrence after thrombectomy in deepseated thrombosis of the femoral and pelvic veins suggested the combination of this operation with a temporary arteriovenous fistula. The operative technique and the good results achieved are described on the basis of two cases. Both patients could be shown to be healed both clinically and angiographically. Disadvantages due to the temporary fistula which was left for 2–3 months were not observed.
