Abstract

The unripe fruits of Solarium arundo were found to contain three steroidal alkaloids, identified as solamargine, solasonine and solanine. Sarsasapogenin was isolated from the neutral glycoside fraction. The unsaponifiable matter of the lipid fraction, afforded β, sitosterol, stigmasterol and camphosterol.
