METABOLISM OF DI– AND MONOACYLOXYTROPANES IN THE AERIAL PARTS OF SOME SOLANACEOUS SPECIES

Abstract

The metabolic pathways of the diacyloxytropanes have been investigated. Mono–esters probably arise by the enzymatic hydrolysis of di–esters in the aerial parts. Solanaceous plants are apparently capable of metabolising various tropane di–esters which have, as yet, not been reported as occurring naturally in the plants.
