Abstract

The sterols derived from the Sudanese variety of Nigella sativa seed oil was fractionated by column chromatography and were separated, identified and quantitatively analysed by thin–layer and gas liquid chromatography.

The oil has been found to contain cholesterol, campesterol, stigmasterol, β–sitosterol and α–spinasterol.
