Summary

Extracts of sporocarps of Amanila muscaria collected in different locations in middle and eastern Germany were examined for the presence of tropane alkaloids and bufotenine by means of thin–layer and paper chromatography. None of these compounds was found, although several compounds giving positive reactions with Dragendorff reagent were detected. These may account for certain erroneous reports of the presence of tropane alkaloids in this species.
