Summary

The sclerotia of maize ergot, found recently in Mexico, have been investigated and found to contain the following clavine alkaloids: chanoclavine (secaclavine), dihydroelymoclavine (dihydrolysergol), elymoclavine, festuclavine, pyroclavine, and agroclavine. Dihydroelymoclavine has been isolated for the first time from nature. Festuclavine and dihydroelymoclavine were the major alkaloids. Neither peptide alkaloids nor free lysergic acid could be detected. The relative amounts of pyroclavine and festuclavine were found to vary from mainly festuclavine to mainly pyroclavine.

Zusammenfassung

Im Mutterkorn, das von Maiskolben in Mexiko gesammelt war, wurden folgende Alkaloide gefunden: Chanoclavin, Dihydroelymoclavin, Elymoclavin, Festuclavin, Pyroclavin und Agroclavin. Von diesen wurden Dihydroelymoclavin zum ersten Mal aus Mutterkorn isoliert. Dieses neben Festuclavin stellten die Hauptalkaloide dar. Peptid–Alkaloide und freie Lysergsäure konnten nicht nachgewiesen werden. Von Pyroclavin und Festuclavin kann das eine oder das andere vorherrschend sein.
