Zusammenfassung
In einer Doppelblindstudie wurde der therapeutische Wert von Pivmecillinam mit Amoxycillin
bei Harnwegsinfektionen verglichen. Dabei stellte sich heraus, daß eine therapeutische
Überlegenheit oder Unterlegenheit einer der beiden Substanzen gegenüber der anderen
nicht besteht. Wie die Studie zeigt, ist ein therapeutischer Vergleich zweier Antibiotika
anhand einer alltäglichen Behandlungssituation möglich. Vor der Neueinführung von
Antibiotika sollte durch entsprechende Studien zumindest die Gleichwertigkeit der
neuen Substanz belegt werden.
Summary
The therapeutic value of pivmecillinam and amoxycillin in urinary tract infections
was compared in a double blind study. No therapeutic superiority or inferiority of
either substance could be demonstrated. The study shows that a therapeutic comparison
of two antibiotics using everyday treatment is possible. Before the introduction of
new antibiotics at least equal effectiveness of the substance should be documented
with appropriate investigations.
