Welcome to the First Issue of Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis for 2009

This issue marks the start of another year with Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis. The start of the year is a great time to reflect on the past and to consider the future, and as the last issue of 2008 was a considered retrospective,[1] [2] I will restrict the review of the past to briefly mention that Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis has again achieved an increase in our impact factor (3.202 for 2007; Fig. [1]).[3] So, onwards to the present and toward the future.
