Significance

An Amberlite resin supported formate/palladium (ARF-Pd) catalyst was prepared in view of using it for C-C coupling reactions. Thus, the Amberlite IRA 900 (Cl form) was rinsed with 10% aq HCOOH to give the Amberlite resin supported formate (ARF). Then, ARF was treated with Pd(OAc)2 in DMF to afford the ARF-Pd catalyst. ARF-Pd was applied to the Mizoroki-Heck reaction of aryl iodides 1a-e with ethyl acrylate (eq. 1), the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling of aryl bromides 3a-g with phenylboronic acid (eq. 2), and the Sonogashira coupling of aryl iodides 5 with terminal acetylenes 6 (eq. 3), to give the corresponding products in up to 96% yield.
