AlArEt2(THF) as Arylation Reagents for Aldehydes and Ketones

Significance

The authors have developed the atom-economical, mixed aluminum reagents AlArEt2(THF) for the arylation to both aldehydes and ketones. The resulting secondary and tertiary alcohols were obtained in high yields and enan­tioselectivities. In addition, the aluminum reagents were easily prepared from the reactions of either AlEt2Br(THF) with ArMgBr or AlAr3(THF) with AlEt3(THF).
