Significance

Palladium complexes of 1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-2,4,8-trioxa-6-phenyl-6-phosphaadamantane (PA-Ph) are shown to be effective catalytic systems which facilitate the sequential application of microwave-assisted Sonogashira reaction and carbonylative annulation, transforming terminal alkynes and 2-iodophenols into flavone derivatives in high yields and under good functional group tolerance.
