Significance

The authors demonstrate that an intriguing ”aromaticity-destroying" isomerization (S. Wang and co-workers J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2008, 130, 12898) of N,C-chelate boron compounds (78) can be completely inhibited through conjugation with olefinic groups. Rather, the chromophore undergoes trans-cis isomerization of the olefin (56).
