Significance

Fullerenes are important building blocks for a wide range of materials applications. The ability to synthesize chiral fullerenes in a catalytic enantioselective manner represents an important and underdeveloped area of chemistry. In the current paper, the authors present an efficient approach for the addition of N-metalated azomethine ylides to fullerenes in a catalytic asymmetric manner.
