Significance

A general, mild, and efficient method for the hydrolysis of organotrifluoroborates using silica gel and water was described. The hydrolysis of a broad range of aryl-, heteroaryl-, alkyl-, alkenyltrifluoroborates, and structurally diverse aminomethylated organotrifluoroborates with one equivalent of silica gel in water under nitrogen gave the corresponding boronic acids (37 examples, 53-89% yield, 1-24 h).
