Significance

Resin-supported 3-amino-2-seleno esters 2 were prepared and applied to the preparation of 2-pyridones 3, 1,4-diazepines 4, and 1,4-oxazepines 5. Thus, resins 2 reacted with malonic monoesters to give the corresponding amide resins 6. The cyclization of 6 with t-BuOK gave lactam resins 7 which underwent the cleavage from the polymer support with 30% H2O2 to afford the desired 2-pyridones 3 (43-63% yield, 9 examples).
