Significance

Attempts to crystallize compound 1 in the presence of wet air were found to yield high-quality crystals of the tetraaryl tetradecahydroporphyrazin, 2. The four aryl substituents of 2 were found to uniformly point in the same direction in the crystalline state, thus forming a four-bladed pinwheel-like structure.
