Significance

Abudinol B was isolated from the sea sponge Ptilocaulis spiculifer. Abudinol B does not display any useful biological activity, but its unusual architecture renders it an interesting target. It is proposed that natural abudinol B is made from polycyclizations of squalene tetraepoxide involving two different cascade cyclization events.
