Significance

Trifluoroborates and N-methyliminodiacetic acid (MIDA) boronates are getting more and more popular as organoboron reagent alternatives. This work compared the two boron reagents in the rhodium(I)-catalyzed diastereoselective addition of boron reagent to N-tert-butane-sulfinyl aldimines in terms of reactivity and selectivity. In most cases MIDA performed better than BF3K counterparts.
