Significance

Titania-supported gold nanoparticles (Au/TiO2-VS, 1) were prepared and applied to the one-pot N-alkylation of amines with alcohols. Thus, nanocomposite 1 with an average size of 1.8 nm was obtained in three steps. The one-pot N-alkylation reaction of aniline 2a with benzyl alcohol 3a was carried out in the presence of Au/TiO2-SV 1 (0.5 mol% Au) to give 92% yield of N-benzylaniline (4a).
