Significance

The authors introduce a chiral pal­ladium catalyst system that enables the highly enantioselective construction of chiral tertiary alcohols bearing a trifluoromethyl group, an ethoxycarbonyl group, and an alkynyl group as substituents. The starting materials are trifluoropyruvate and the corresponding alkynylsilanes.
