Significance

Metal-bound carbenes are well-known species for C-H insertion into sp³-C-H bonds. The authors developed rhodium(II) azavinyl carbenes, which are easily prepared from 1-(alkylsulfonyl)triazoles by click reaction, and used them for the C-H functionalization of unactivated alkanes to afford chiral sulfonamides in good yield with high chemo- and enantioselectivity.
