Die chronische venöse Insuffizienz (CVI) und das Postthrombotische Syndrom (PTS) als chronische Folge von Varikose und Thrombose sind mit einer Prävalenz von insgesamt 17 % häufige Krankheitsbilder in der deutschen Bevölkerung. Die Verhinderung einer Thrombose und die rechtzeitige Behandlung der Varikose sind primäre Möglichkeiten der Prävention. Im Vordergrund der weiteren Prophylaxe und Therapie stehen die Kompressionstherapie und die Ausschaltung von Risikofaktoren. Dabei kommt der Reduktion des Übergewichts eine besondere Bedeutung zu.

Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) and Postthrombotic Syndrome (PTS) following varicose veins and deep venous thrombosis (DVT) are frequent conditions in Germany with an overall prevalence of 17 %. Prophylaxis of DVT and early treatment of varicose veins are primary possibilities of prevention. In secondary prophylaxis and treatment compression treatment and reduction of risk factors play a major role. Reduction of obesity is one focus in these patients.
