Abstract

This study investigated the effect of a longitudinal-cranial occiput manipulation to C1 on straight leg raise (SLR) in patients with low back pain. SLR and forward flexion distance test (FFD) were carried out initially and after intervention on all patients as well initially a subjective pain assessement.

SLR measurement showed statistically significant differences in the intervention group both within each treatment and in comparison between the groups.

Additional high cervical treatment may have a positive impact on SLR in patients with low back pain. Therefore it is recommended as progression, in the case of treatment resistant complaints or as indirect modality.
