Quality in Endoscopy symposium: GI Bleeding

November 28 – 30, 2014

Berlin, Germany

During the recently held fifth Quality in Endoscopy symposium, international experts gathered to deliberate the most pressing topics in the field of GI bleeding. Interactive talks, case presentations and debates with voting set the stage and enabled vivid interaction between the faculty and participants.

“The ESGE Quality in Endoscopy symposia are ideal, with very high level of didactic interactive sessions for both the academic gastroenterologist, practicing gastroenterologist at any level. It’s all about quality; quality of the faculty, and of the participants. Rounding it off with the new hands-on session on Sunday was a perfect way to end the symposium.” said Ian M. Gralnek, ESGE Co-Chair.

During the hands-on training, junior endoscopists enjoyed opportunity to test their skills and check out different procedures under the guidence of world experts. Interest in taking part was far higher than expected and the 24 lucky participants were effusive in their praise of the sessions.

Whenever topics apply, ESGE guideline leaders take advantage of these monothematic, multidisciplinary symposia to gather working groups and bring forward drafts of upcoming guidelines. This was the case in Berlin, with the ESGE non variceal GI bleeding guideline for which a working group meeting was held prior to the symposium.
