Abstract

Herbal anti-inflammatory drugs are an important option within the holistic treatment schedule of osteoarthritis. For self-treatment, food supplements such as rose hip and seed powder, nettle herb, ginger, blackcurrant leaf and curcuma rootpowder may be used. For external use, nettle leaf, Spanish pepper extract, peppermint oil, a tincture of arnica or comfrey are useful. In case of acute osteoarthritis exacerbations, willow bark extract is recommendable. Decil’s claw extracts are a treatment option in case of chronic osteoarthritis.
