Eine Bluttransfusion stellt immer eine vorübergehende lebensrettende Maßnahme dar. Die Notwendigkeit einer Bluttransfusion besteht bei einer mangelhaften Sauerstoffversorgung (oft labordiagnostisch durch eine Hyperlaktatämie gekennzeichnet) aufgrund einer akuten Anämie (z. B. durch Hämorrhagie, Hämolyse oder defizitäre Erythropoese). Eine Bluttransfusion ist ein wichtiger Bestandteil der Schockbehandlung beim hämorrhagischen Schock. Ziel einer Bluttransfusion ist eine Verbesserung der Sauerstofftransportkapazität, die Erhöhung des Blutvolumens und der Ersatz von Koagulationsfaktoren bei mangelnder Kompensation. Dieser Artikel befasst sich in erster Linie mit der Durchführung einer Bluttransfusion unter Praxisbedingungen.
