Dear colleagues and readers of the European Journal of Pediatric Surgery,

Today, European Journal of Pediatric Surgery (EJPS) is the official organ of 28 European National Associations of Pediatric Surgery. It is also the official journal of the European Pediatric Surgeons Association (EUPSA) and the Union of European Medical Specialists—Section Pediatric Surgery (UEMS). During recent years, EJPS has evolved to be one of the most relevant international pediatric surgical journals worldwide, and the impact factor has further increased in the most recent release to 1.269.

These achievements would not have been possible without the support of many colleagues who served as the editorial board members, associated editors, and editorial consultants. The Editor-in-Chief and Thieme Publisher would like to thank all colleagues who were involved in the success of our journal for their tremendous support.

The Editor-in-Chief and the publisher do occasionally have to bring in new members to ensure that we keep the journal fresh and appealing to the next generation of pediatric surgeons. We are very pleased to inform you that the following changes in the editorial board have been made. Prof. Arnaud Bonnard from Paris, France, and Prof. Martin Lacher from Leipzig, Germany, are appointed as the new members of the editorial board and have both been very active for the journal during recent years. Prof. Whit Holcomb has recently been appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pediatric Surgery, and we congratulate him warmly for this achievement. Due to his future commitments, he will step down as a member of the board of EJPS in August 2017. We are very glad to inform you that Dr. Shawn St. Peter from Kansas City, United States, accepted to take over as the representative of the United States and as the Editorial Board Member of EJPS. We are very grateful to Prof. Giuseppe Martuciello, whose term has finished, for his support for so many years.

In addition to these changes, numerous new editorial consultants were appointed due to their international visibility in specific fields of pediatric surgery. We wish to welcome them warmly and look forward to building on the work of their predecessors to continue developing the journal. Several other colleagues have finished their term due to retirement. Thank you all for your continuous support and essential contributions during all these years.

The world of publishing scientific work will undergo substantial changes in the future. Let us face the challenges together and lead EJPS to continued and greater success over the coming years!

Warm regards.
