Case Report: Transposition of the Vertebrobasilar Dolichoectasia Fixation with a Teflon Sling to the Dura Next to the Porus Accusticus and the Jugular Foramen for a Microvascular Decompression in the Treatment of Trigeminal Nerve Pain

Case Report: A 68 year old man had a trigeminal nerve pain in V1 and V2 on the left side, because of a neurovascular conflict with an ectasic dolichobasilar artery. With pain reducing medication he was almost pain free, but he had some severe side effects with carbamazepine (anaphylactic reaction level II) and phenytoin. So we recommended do a transposition of the dolichobsilar artery with a Teflon sling.

The outcome shows an immediately pain free episode for 2 weeks. Then he had some pain attacks for 2 weeks more, which disappeared completely 2 weeks later. The postoperative MRI shows a stable distance of some millimeters.
